ABOUT

My Story

I’ve been working in homes for over 25 years — first as a flooring and tile contractor, then in construction management. I’ve seen it all: jobs that went smooth, and jobs that went sideways. What I noticed is most homeowners don’t really know what they’re stepping into when they hire a contractor. And most contractors, even the good ones, sometimes struggle to explain costs, manage expectations, or keep communication crystal clear.

Renovation Shield was born from my experience on both sides of the jobsite. As I wind down from daily contracting work, I’m putting that knowledge to use helping homeowners protect their investment.

The Homeowner’s Problem

Hiring a contractor means you’ve stepped into the role of general contractor whether you realize it or not. That comes with responsibilities — daily site checks, milestone approvals, clear contracts — that most homeowners aren’t prepared for.

This is where issues arise:

  • Homeowners and contractors often come from two very different work environments and communication styles.

  • Very skilled contractors may underbid a job just to keep cashflow moving — then run into trouble delivering at that price.

  • Some contractors “bid with their own wallet,” feeling guilty for charging what high-quality work actually costs.

  • Customers all have such different expectations it can be difficult for a contractor to understand which you are within a 30 minutes consultation. The reality is he can have 2 similar jobs with 2 very different customers and distinguishing the two can be difficult.

My Role

That’s where I step in.

I help you throughout the construction process — catching problems early so you don’t pay for mistakes later. I act as a second set of eyes, making sure expectations are clear, milestones are met, and communication runs smooth.

I’m not here to pick apart a contractor’s work. I’m here to:

  • Translate technical details into plain English.

  • Help both sides stay aligned from day one.

  • Give homeowners reassurance and contractors clarity.

Think of me as a shield, not a sword — protecting your renovation without creating conflict.
